A decretarlo è la standings de I Migliori Ristoranti Italiani nel Mondo 2022 – Prosecco DOC Award firmata da 50 Top Italy, l’affermata guida online consultabile gratuitamente, ideata da LSDM, Congresso internazionale di cucina d’autore, e dalla testata giornalistica Luciano Pignataro Wine&Food Blog.The Canadian branch of the historic restaurant on the Sorrento Peninsula, owned by the Iaccarino family, preceded Fiola, in Washington DC, the flagship restaurant of chef Fabio Trabocchi, in the rankings.
In third place is Da Vittorio Shanghai, another big name in Italian catering linked to the figures of the Cerea brothers from Brusaporto. Also in the top five are Otto e Mezzo – Bombana, from Hong Kong, and Sesamo, from Marrakesh.
There is no shortage of Special Awards. Massimiliano Sena, of the restaurant Il Lago di Ginevra, was awarded the Chef of the Year 2022 – Pastificio dei Campi Award.
The important recognition Innovation and Sustainability 2022 – D'Amico Award was assigned to Osteria 57, New York. The Ornellaia restaurant, Zurich, won the crown for the Best Wine List 2022 – Prosecco DOC Award. While Nino Graziano, at the helm of Semifreddo, won the title of Inspiration Model 2022 – D'Amico Award.
Finally, the first place winner, Don Alfonso 1890 Toronto, also won the Lunch of the Year 2022 – Mulino Caputo Award.
Of the 50 establishments in the ranking, 7 are located in the United States and as many in France; 5 are locations in the UK and Japan; 3 in China; 2 in Canada, as well as Australia, Germany, Switzerland and Singapore; with one restaurant each in South Africa, Sweden, Spain, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Russia, Austria, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark and Morocco.
There are 23 countries represented in total, where there is therefore at least one large restaurant serving Italian cuisine. “We certainly did not discover – underline Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro and Albert Sapere, the three curators of the editorial project – the success of Italian cuisine in the world. What we have noticed in particular, however, in recent years, is a significant increase in average quality.
