The Carabinieri reported to the Larino Prosecutor's Office three people who in 2020 had created four illegal landfills of special waste in the countryside of San Martino in Pensilis (Campobasso).
The waste, four eco-bales abandoned in the midst of the pandemic, came from companies in the Campania area. The facts had caused a stir and had been the subject, a few days later, of a parliamentary question to the ministers of the Environment and the Interior.
The investigations allowed the military to identify a waste transport company from the province of Caserta that, with the complicity of a criminal, illegally disposed of over 200 tons of special waste on the land of San Martino. Therefore, the administrator of the company specialized in waste transport, the truck driver from Caserta who physically drove and dumped the eco-bales on the land and a man from San Martino in Pensilis were summoned to trial.
The crimes contested concern the construction of four illegal landfills of special waste and the alteration and defacement of areas subject to landscape and environmental constraints.
