Ariano Irpino, Inmate Injures Assistant Chief of Penitentiary Police
An agitated prisoner, originally from Caserta, locked up in the third section, for trivial reasons, tore off the door of the telephone booth used by prisoners as a sign of protest and, using it as a "battery", smashed the glass that delimits the upper part of the barrier gate.
The news was given by the national secretary of Sappe, Emilio Fattorello. He explains:
“A sharp shard of glass fell and lodged itself in the shoulder of the Policeman, who managed to activate the alarm to get help and assistance from his colleagues, who arrived on the scene and took steps to limit further damage to the injured colleague and to contain the rebellious prisoner who committed the insane act, who appears to be a repeat offender in violent behavior even against staff.
The unfortunate colleague, following the injuries he suffered, was urgently admitted to the Emergency Room of the local hospital where he received several stitches and days of prognosis. According to the health workers, only a few centimeters of the wound from the main vessels avoided the worst.
The penitentiary of Ariano Irpino continues to remain certainly one of the most critical penitentiary realities of the district for the high number of violent critical events by prisoners who are increasingly arrogant and refractory to the rules, critical issues that have been repeatedly denounced by our trade union organization. to various Authorities from which we await verifications and feedback.
Sappe Campania expresses solidarity with the injured colleague, wishing him a quick recovery. Solidarity is also directed to the Penitentiary Police personnel who work amidst a thousand difficulties of various kinds in the detention wards of the Tricolle District Prison.
