Salerno. The 2016-year-old Tunisian national, who was the recipient of a European arrest warrant issued by France and executed at the port of Salerno from the border police.
The man, disembarking from a motor vessel from Tunis, tried to evade border controls by hiding among the passengers, convinced he would go unnoticed. But the agents, having recognized him through mug shots, subjected him to a check.
From the investigations, it emerged that the Tunisian was reported to Interpol for 'counterfeiting of spent coins and introduction into the State with prior agreement of counterfeit coins', on a provision issued six years ago by France. Subjected to a personal search, the man was found in possession of a large sum of money.
The Tunisian, with a regular residence permit issued by the Caserta police headquarters on February 24, ten years ago, told the agents that he had come to Italy to scrap his car and that he was a resident of Mondragone, in the Caserta area, where he works as a street vendor, but did not provide any plausible justifications regarding the possession of the money. He is now in the Salerno-Fuorni prison.
