A real scam has been going around for a few days now on social media: “You haven't received the shopping voucher, there's a fuel voucher for you”.
The message comes from the portal of the Lazio Region. However, if you click on it and, without knowing it, you start a fake contact: an online scam that many, these days, are reporting to the detriment of users.
From the Lazio Region portal, Salute Lazio, messages are arriving directly on the cell phones of registered users inviting them to click to receive a voucher.
This is a well-crafted trap in a period when the high cost of fuel is pushing most people to click.
But this way you risk falling for a scam that could damage your cell phone, steal personal data and credit cards to withdraw money.
The message is obviously false, it does not come from Lazio region but by someone who managed to get inside. However, it risks deceiving many users since it uses a means of communication that the residents of Lazio have learned to know well: the one to communicate the date and time of the appointment for vaccinations, the first dose, the second and the third, or to download the tests carried out for which the results are ready.
The fuel voucher trap, a few days ago, traveled like a social chain, bouncing from one cell phone to another while promising a 100 euro fuel voucher: in that case, however, it was the users who sent it. The only antidote to the online scam? Be wary of those who offer money.
