“The recent data released by the study on bullying and cyberbullying, promoted by the Osservatorio (in)difesa, reveal a worrying fact: 61% of young people between the ages of 13 and 23 have suffered episodes of bullying. A constantly growing figure that reflects the exponential increase of the phenomenon that has had a real explosion with the Covid-19 pandemic. It is clear that we need to help our children understand the importance of life, mutual respect and values”.
Domenico said it Falcon, president of Corecom Campania, on the sidelines of the first webinar @scuolasenzabulli 2022 which saw the students of the Comprehensive Institute "Aiello del Sabato" in the province of Avellino as protagonists, coordinated by the school principal Elena Casalino, with the referents Anna Iannaccone, Lorella Damiano and Antonio Aquino.
"Corecom Campania is also committed this year to a prevention campaign against bullying and cyberbullying that involves students, schools with their teachers, experts in the sector and uniformed officers in the deep belief that dialogue with young people is the right path, also following the indications and commitment put in place by governor Vincenzo De Luca. It is sad - continued Falco - that just on the eve of the new cycle of seminars, new episodes of urban violence involving minors are being recorded".
“Networking is also the watchword for Gennaro Oliviero, president of the Campania Regional Council, who addressed a specific message to the kids: “We have been committed for years to supporting prevention campaigns against bullying and cyberbullying, promoting educational and informative moments together with the schools of the region.
We wanted to bring together around a single table the kids, their families, teachers, law enforcement and local authorities to send a clear signal: those who suffer these forms of violence are not alone and can count on the support of a network that is able to guide them out of the tunnel and isolation that these phenomena are the main cause of. At the same time, it is a message of responsibility addressed to all students to explain that those who turn their faces away in the face of these episodes are complicit”.
The prevention and updating activities carried out by the institute were illustrated at the opening of the meeting: “Our institute has always been committed to fighting all forms of bullying and cyberbullying – underlined the principal Elena Casalino – and to promoting the conscious use of technologies.
The kids are very attentive to these issues as well as their teachers. We work together to defeat these phenomena that are spreading among young people in collaboration with the police who constantly support us. Our goal is to make kids aware of the conscious use of 'devices'. Their parents must also be involved in this process because, sometimes, they are also the ones who set a bad example.
The goal must be prevention, especially in this difficult period for students who have lived through two years of pandemic and now a war on the gates of Europe. This is why we have decided to also promote a peace education program that involves everyone, even the youngest. Children are the present and they must live it as it should be”.
At the end of the meeting it was announced that the Aiello del Sabato Institute (class 1° A of the Santo Stefano del Sole complex) won the “Cycling against bullying” award with the awareness video created by the students with the help of the teachers. The trophy, awarded as part of the “21st Rachelina Ambrosini Foundation Award”, “The days of solidarity and globality”, recognizes the school's constant commitment to combating bullying and cyberbullying, coordinated by Professor Anna Iannaccone, with teachers Michela Bianchi, Elisabetta Bilotto, Sabina De Mattia and Cristina Serino.
