A 55 year old bank employee from Novara, Angelo Persico, was arrested again yesterday, like three years ago, on the same charge of stalking. His victim was always the same: the volleyball player of Vero Volley Monza and the national team Alessia Orro, 23 years old.
In 2019, the man had already been placed under house arrest on charges of stalking the player who was playing for the Busto Arsizio (Varese) team at the time. He then pleaded guilty to a sentence of one year and eight months. For years, the 8-year-old has been obsessed with the athlete and is convinced that she is, as he explained, “the woman of his life”. “Boys and girls, don’t be afraid to report it, violence, in whatever form it takes, should absolutely not be underestimated”.
Italian volleyball player Alessia Orro wrote this after the Carabinieri arrested her stalker, a 55-year-old man, for the second time. “Be brave, because I know firsthand how difficult it can be, especially – the 23-year-old wrote on Facebook – when you realize that the past could return to the present, but I can assure you that it would be even more difficult to face it alone!”
“I feel obliged as an athlete and public figure – the premise of the post – to share with you what is now slowly coming out everywhere. I would like to set an example not only on the field, but also and above all outside, to help all the people who have or are going through this difficult time as happened to me in the past and in this last period.” Orro concludes by thanking “first of all the carabinieri who protected me on this journey, always making themselves available on every occasion.
A special thanks also goes to my company, Vero Volley Monza, who supported me and helped me deal with this bad episode, protecting me in every situation. The thanks don't end here, and these are the most important of all, thanks truly to all the people who have been by my side lately, trying to make my days better and sometimes even making me smile, without you everything would have been more difficult. It was painful to reopen an old wound, but I am extremely happy that all this is over for now".
