Incentives for non-polluting cars and motorcycles are coming, a measure awaited by the automotive sector which is going through a period of crisis. Monday 16 May will be published in the Official Journal and the incentives for cars and motorcycles will come into force, with discounts of up to 5.000 euros.

The decree will be published in the Official Journal and will be immediately effective.
To obtain the car and motorcycle bonus, sales contracts stipulated with dealerships starting from that day will be valid.
Dealers will be able to access the Mise, the booking platform of the Ministry of Economic Development, starting from Wednesday 25 May on the basis of sales contracts stipulated starting from next Monday, 16 May.
The allocated amounts and how the car and motorbike incentives work
The measure allocates 650 million euros for each of the years 2022, 2023 and 2024, almost two billion in three years.
For example, for the purchase of electric cars (emissions band 0-20 g/km) with a price up to 35 thousand euros plus VAT it is possible to request a contribution of 3 thousand euros. In case of scrapping a vehicle less than Euro 5 you can get another 2 thousand euros
For the plug-in hybrid vehicles (emission band 21-60 g/km) with a price up to 45 thousand euros plus VAT instead you can obtain a contribution of 2 thousand euros, with scrapping you get another 2 thousand euros.
For cars with traditional engines low-emissions (61-135 g/km range) and some types of mild hybrid e full hybrid with a price up to 35 thousand euros plus VAT, you can get a contribution of 2 thousand euros but only with scrapping.
The measure also includes incentives for mopeds, electric and hybrid motorcycles: contribution of 30% of the purchase price up to a maximum of 3 thousand euros and 40% up to 4 thousand euros if a motorbike in a class from Euro 0 to 3 is scrapped.
For the mopeds and thermal motorcycles, new from the factory, is instead expected, in exchange for a 5% discount from the seller, a contribution of 40% of the purchase price and up to 2.500 euros with scrapping.
Who is entitled to the incentives?
This incentive is available only to individuals. Only a small percentage of the funds are reserved for car sharing companies for the purchase of electric, hybrid, and plug-in vehicles.
They are Contributions also expected for electric commercial vehicles for small and medium-sized enterprises, including legal entities, carrying out transport activities.
For these categories, contributions are foreseen for the purchase of commercial vehicles category N1 and N2, factory new, exclusively electric powered.
The incentive can be obtained by scrapping a vehicle approved in a class lower than Euro 4.
A contribution of 4 thousand euros is recognized for N1 vehicles up to 1,5 tons, of 6 thousand euros for N1 vehicles over 1,5 tons and up to 3,5 tons, of 12 thousand euros for N2 vehicles from 3,5 tons up to 7 tons.
For N2 vehicles over 7 tons and up to 12 tons, a contribution of 14 thousand euros is recognized. This ecobonus is financed with 10 million in 2022, 15 million in 2023 and 20 million in 2024.
