A young non-EU citizen, about 30 years old, immediately after the attack fled and disappeared. The episode on the line Mondragone-Castel Volturno. The man, in the company of three friends, had boarded the Air Campania bus at the stop in Pescopagano Tower. Initially he didn't want to pay the ticket.
An initial discussion arose with the inspector who called him back to purchase the ticket. When the bus then arrived at Pinetamare his friends insistently asked the driver to take them to Napoli. The operator tried to explain that the line was headed to Castel Volturno. A second argument ensued.
The tone became heated, the inspector – according to the version provided by the transport company – tried to make the young people reason by giving them directions to reach Naples. But suddenly the young man, appearing from behind his companions, punched the inspector in the face.
The driver immediately stopped the bus. The thirty-year-old took the opportunity to get off. Once on the ground, he grabbed an iron bar and broke through the glass of the bus door, before fleeing with the other three. The Carabinieri intervened on the spot and are investigating the incident.
"These are intolerable acts of barbaric violence. This is not the first episode of aggression against our operators, to whom I express closeness and solidarity. Among other things, it occurred on the new lines reactivated in the province of Caserta last May 2. We will file a complaint against these criminals. I hope that the police will soon identify the perpetrators" , commented the sole director of Air, Anthony Acconcia.
