Veronica was in fact hit by a motorbike that was speeding along Via Tribunali, in Naples: the motorbike belonged to people close to the clan of the area, so much so that shortly after about twenty criminals returned to the scene to recover the vehicle and threaten the witnesses. Veronica has been hospitalized in serious conditions in the Cardarelli hospital for two weeks.
This morning 40 donors went to Cardarelli, and fifteen of them said they wanted to offer their blood for Veronica's treatment. Raffaele and Veronica's story has aroused emotion and solidarity.
The couple – he is Neapolitan, she is Chilean – had opened a restaurant on Via dei Tribunali a few months ago. The motorbike hit her just as she was going around the outdoor tables of the restaurant. The group of ill-intentioned people who arrived shortly after with the aim of intimidating also pushed some of the customers of the restaurant, who, having noticed what was happening, intervened to defend the couple.
