Operation Blue Sea. The fifth edition of the campaign to report problems on Italian beaches has begun.
The fifth edition of the social campaign “Operazione Mare Blu” has started, promoted by Senator Virginia La Mura, oceanographer and group leader of the Cal group in the Environment Commission of Palazzo Madama.
For the months of July and August 2022, the senator will collect all photo and video reports from citizens regarding the state of the beaches frequented during the summer season.
Users will be able to send their contributions on poor accessibility, lack of information and safety services, incorrect waste management, presence of illegal discharges, non-compliance with the bathing ban and all other problems that compromise adequate use of the beaches, by contacting the senator through her Facebook channel @VirginiaLaMuraSenato.
“Over the course of these years – explains La Mura – I translated the citizens' reports into parliamentary acts, thanks to their participation we have focused on the respect and protection of a very important common good.
In fact, I believe that the information tool at the base of Operazione Mare Blu is a good method to make the beneficiary of the beach more aware of his right to enjoy a public resource and to demand that it be respected and protected as the property of all, citizen and concessionaire in equal measure. The beaches and the coasts need our attention and care, together we can create a virtuous example of collective protection”.
