Elections, the “escape” from Forza Italia for many former big names of the party in Campania in recent days has increasingly taken on the contours of a rebellion against what was for many years the home of Campania’s moderates. Yet the rift is strong, perhaps too strong considering the numbers Forza Italia was used to in recent years.
The note published by the outgoing Forza Italia parliamentarians Domenico De Siano, Carlo Sarro, Antonio Pentangelo and the former regional councilor of Campania Armando Cesaro is quite eloquent: “We tried to resist until the end in a party that, from the original spirit of '94, only retains the name of its Founder in the electoral symbol; hence the massive and inevitable exodus of ministers, parliamentarians, regional councillors, local administrators and above all activists recorded in recent months.
The pressing economic and social crisis which affects Italy, aggravated by the current international situation, requires a renewed commitment to coherent political action with our moderate and liberal vision of the country, the only one truly capable of avoiding irresponsible economic choices or, even worse, adventurous political solutions that would condemn Italy to isolation and further decline.
We have therefore started a careful reflection and a serious comparison with those who have followed in these weeks our choice to leave Forza Italia: together we agreed that the only useful and possible vote, in this political phase, is that for the Third Pole.
In the next decisive days of the election campaign We will work to strengthen the result of this political area, and in the name of the authentically liberal and guarantor values that we have always firmly supported,we will ask the many that they share precisely these values, to join us in this democratic battle for Italyto"
