Grand Tour among the Unesco excellences, new frontier of tourism. The suggestion of the 18 chambers of commerce gathered in Mirabilia
Starting from the nineteenth-century model of the “Grand Tour”, which brought to Europe, especially to Italy, the offspring of aristocratic families on a long journey of formation, made of discovery of cities, people and a way of life. This is the new trend that emerged today from the works of the tenth Cultural Tourism Exchange, which will continue tomorrow, and the sixth edition of Mirabilia Food & drink, at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa.
The 18 chambers of commerce, united by the presence on their territory of at least one UNESCO site, united in the Mirabilia Network association (Bari, Basilicata, Caserta, Chieti-Pescara, Genoa, Irpinia-Sannio, Marche, Messina, Molise, Pavia, Riviera di Liguria, Sassari, South East Sicily, Treviso-Belluno, Pordenone-Udine, Umbria, Verona and Venezia Giulia) are candidates to be the stages of the journey, starting from the new concept of tourism, slower.
Andrea Granelli, founder and president of Kanso, an expert in innovation and digitalization, explains the formula: “We need to ask ourselves why people travel, and I believe that the Grand Tour is a great viaticum - He says -. It's not just entertainment: it's a journey of learning and discovery, which is linked to another great phenomenon, smart working, because looking for places to work better is something halfway between work and exploration of a place".
Today almost 52% of holidays are chosen online, recalls Andrea Prete, president of Unioncamere: “The pandemic has fueled a new focus on closer places, sustainability, the search for more private environments and freer, more unconventional travel experiences”. The chambers of commerce gathered in Mirabilia “they are already working to offer a single menu”.
And with Mirabilia there is "the desire to demonstrate that there is a possible, sustainable tourism that accompanies culture, environment, cuisine and landscape, a slower, more reflective and formative way of doing tourism. We brought 400 sellers and buyers of these new forms of tourism to Genoa", adds Luigi Attanasio, president of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce.
