The boys from Pompeii on tour with the comedy 'The Birds' by Aristophanes arrive in Bologna at the Teatro Arena del Sole – ERT
The “dream” of the kids from the Vesuvian area does not stop, students from the schools of Pompeii and Torre del Greco who, after the success this summer at the Teatro Grande in Pompeii where they staged the comedy The Birds by Aristophanes, will perform at the Teatro Arena del Sole – Ert in Bologna on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October.
The show, the first theatrical production of the Pompeii Archaeological Park, created in collaboration with Ravenna Festival, Teatro delle Albe/Ravenna, Teatro di Napoli-Teatro Nazionale and Giffoni Film Festival, is part of a larger project “Sogno di volare”, aimed at involving young people and schools in the area and establishing a concrete link between the ancient testimonies and the young users, in a journey aimed at understanding and valorising the historical-archaeological heritage and born within the framework of a memorandum of understanding stipulated, in implementation of the strategic plan, last April between the Pompeii Archaeological Park, the Grande Progetto Pompei/Unità Grande Pompei and the Campania Regional School Office.

After Pompeii, the show directed by Marco Martinelli, with music by Ambrogio Sparagna and lighting design by Vincent Longuemare, internationally renowned theatre professionals, was also staged at the Teatro delle Albe in Ravenna and now in Bologna.
"For many of these kids, Pompeii was unknown or only known through school trips. Now it is their place, which they proudly take around Italy as true ambassadors of the territory. This is the real success of the initiative, in addition to the quality of the show that has met with great enthusiasm from the public - underlines the Director of the archaeological park, Gabriel Zuchtriegel
The project will continue this year with a new show scheduled for the end of May once again on the stage of the Teatro Grande in Pompeii. And soon the entire journey from the first rehearsals to the staging will be presented, documented by the Giffoni Film Festival through a docufilm edited by Marcello Adamo and Luca Apolito to tell this extraordinary life experience of the boys and their active participation in direct contact with places of culture.
