Naples, illegal taxi drivers discovered in Capodichino. The police have withdrawn the licenses of eight taxi drivers and reported two others.
Yesterday, officers from the Secondigliano Police Station and personnel from the Municipal Police – Airport Operations Unit and Tourist Police Operations Unit, with the support of the Campania Crime Prevention Department, carried out an extraordinary territorial control service at Capodichino airport to combat the phenomenon of illegal public transport.
During the operation, 70 people were identified, 16 of whom had a police record, 40 vehicles were checked, one of which was subjected to administrative seizure and one subjected to administrative detention.
Furthermore, 19 violations of the Highway Code were contested for lack of insurance coverage, lack of periodic inspection, for driving a vehicle already seized, for having used a car for rental with driver (NCC) that was not intended for such use, for having driven a car for NCC (rental with driver) in violation of the authorization requirements, for failure to comply with the taxi service license regulations, for driving with an expired professional qualification certificate (CAP) and for driving with an expired license.
In addition, a professional qualification certificate (CAP) and a driving license were withdrawn, while 8 taxi drivers were reported to the Office of Non-Scheduled Public Transport of the Municipality of Naples for violations of municipal regulations.
Finally, the police reported a 40-year-old for assault and resisting a public official because, after catching him approaching passengers while pretending to be a taxi driver, he attempted to flee by pushing the drivers but, after a fight, he was stopped.
The man was also administratively sanctioned for possession of a narcotic substance for personal use as he was found in possession of a bag of hashish and one of marijuana and was charged with a violation of the Highway Code for having used a car for rental with driver (NCC) that was not intended for such use while the vehicle was subjected to administrative seizure.
