The Rome court has sentenced 5 people belonging to or linked to the Camorra-style clan of the Moccia.
The charges range, in various capacities and depending on the positions, from extortion to the fictitious registration of assets, with the aggravating circumstance of the mafia method. The judges have issued a sentence of 9 years of imprisonment against the clan leader, Angelo Moccia. In addition to the clan leader, the judges have sentenced four other people, with sentences ranging from 8 years to one year and 4 months, while one of the defendants was acquitted.
The trial came after the September 2020 operation of the Rome District Anti-Mafia Directorate, coordinated by the prosecutor Giovanni Musarò and conducted by the Carabinieri of the Rome provincial command, which led to the seizure of some restaurants in the center of the capital and the arrest of 13 people, including the two bosses Angelo and Luigi, whose position was separated.
