Also this year, on the occasion of Valentine's Day, Amazon.it reveals the ranking of the Italian cities that purchased the most romance novels during 2022. The ranking was drawn up based on the number of sales per capita of both eBooks and paperbacks in cities with more than 50.000 inhabitants.
Article Key Points
Here is the top 10 Italian cities:
Lucca
Cagliari
Siena
arcade
Sanremo
Trieste
Bolzano
Milan
Gallarate
Pavia
Not just comics: the medieval city of Lucca stands out at number one in the top 10, jumping three positions compared to last year. In fact, during 2022, between a comic and a walk on the walls, the people of Lucca just couldn't resist reading romance novels. In 2nd and 3rd place, Cagliari, home of the famous courtship ritual under the balconies, and Siena, which rises sweet and majestic among its hills, enter the ranking.
News also for the 4th and 5th position where we find, one step away from the podium, the metropolitan municipality of Portici (NA) and the City of Flowers, Sanremo. Both boast a unique atmosphere: between views of the Gulf and walks along the port, who knows if it was precisely this suggestive air that encouraged the inhabitants to immerse themselves in stories of love and romantic passions.
Instead, windy Trieste slips from 2nd to 6th place, followed by Bolzano which settles in 7th position. The ranking continues with Milan, which confirms itself again this year as an unmissable presence among the Italian cities that have read the most romance novels. The Top 10 of 2022 closes with another curious new entry in 9th position, the municipality of Gallarate (VA), and, finally, Pavia.
Intense, romantic and passionate: here are the most read and loved titles in 2022
Among the most read paperbacks in 2022, we find Erin Doom's novel "The Tearmaker", an intense and romantic book that has also managed to conquer the hearts of the youngest readers. In 2nd and 5th place, we find "Let the game begin. Kiss me like you love me. Ediz. italiana (Vol. 1)" and "A dangerous game. Kiss me like you love me. Ediz. italiana (Vol. 2)" by Kira Shell, which tell the story of Neil, an enigmatic boy struggling with a dark past, and Selene, willing to do anything to try to probe the chaos that seems to permeate his skin. Ranked in 3rd place is "It ends with us. Siamo noi a dire basta" by Colleen Hoover, a story that begins one evening like many others on the roof of a house from which the protagonist Lily stares at a clear and boundless sky. Finally, in 4th place is another novel by Erin Doom, “The Way the Snow Falls”, the story of a love that rages like the storm.
Among eBooks, in 1st place is “Not a Country for Singles” by author Felicia Kingsley, set in a small village in the Tuscan hills where olive trees and vineyards abound… but not a single bachelor. In 2nd place we find the novel “The Tearmaker” by Erin Doom followed by “Changing the Water for Flowers” by Valérie Perrin and “The Problem is Mister Darcy” by Italian author Paola Servente. Closing the ranking of the most read eBooks in 2022 is another novel by Felicia Kingsley, “I'll Wait for You in Central Park”.
