Over 16 million Italians are ready to leave for Easter and April 25. Not counting 2,5 million undecided, there will be at least 8 million Easter vacationers, of whom 60% will spend 2 nights away from home, but one in ten will “extend” their stay to the whole week.
Destinations within their own region for one in two while, of the remaining half, 8 will travel elsewhere but always in Italy and 2 abroad. Seaside locations are the most sought after (22%) followed by cities of art and villages (together 28%) for a total expenditure of around 4 billion euros. These are the forecasts of the Tourism Observatory of Confcommercio di Swg.
The Liberation Bridge, on the other hand, currently has 8,2 million Italians who have already organized themselves and another 4 million who are seriously thinking about it, for a total expenditure that would be close to 4,5 billion, given a slightly more modest budget - 360 euros per person - probably because those interviewed expect slightly lower prices in that period.
With more days available in this case, the scope of travel is widened - 42% will remain in their region of origin and 14% will go abroad - while the presumably more favorable weather, at least according to the calendar, makes places immersed in nature rise to second place among destinations, always after the sea.
Tuscany, Lazio, Emilia Romagna, Puglia, Liguria, Veneto and Campania are the most popular regions while, for foreign destinations, the news of strikes and protests in France do not seem to tarnish the appeal of this country for its compatriots, which is by far the most popular compared to Spain and Greece.
