This morning the military personnel of the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Napoli are executing a local and personal search warrant issued by this Public Prosecutor's Office against a criminal association aimed at committing multiple crimes against public faith and against property. The investigations of the Guardia di Finanza, still ongoing, have reportedly revealed the sale of fraudulently altered tickets for the matches of the Società Sportiva Calcio Napoli played at the "Diego Armando Maradona" stadium, with the complicity of betting shops in Naples and the province.
The tickets would have been initially issued with fictitious names on them, in order to ensure that they would be snapped up and to anticipate the so-called "Sold out"; then sold to the buyers, previously identified also through the social networks, to a price significantly higher and, in some cases, even double compared to the official one, modifying the personal details of the ticket holders so that they coincide with those of the individuals who presented themselves at the access gates to the stadium.
Some ticket offices and stadium control staff involved in the scam
The involvement of the illicit activity also emerged Stadium control personnel who, in exchange for a financial reward, would have facilitated the entry of the holders of the altered tickets. The involvement of the stewards of the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples consisted – according to the financial police – in not detecting the code of the ticket on which the name had been altered.
This emerges from the investigation coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office which this morning led to a series of house and personal searches of the so-called ticket touts. The investigation brings to light the fraudulent system carried out for the entire current football championship which saw the Napoli win the championship.
There have been multiple reports of potential fans who wanted to buy tickets and were unable to do so because the venue was always sold out.
