An award for the “promptness and solidarity” shown in helping the 10-year-old girl who was hit by a bullet in the head on May 23 will be presented next Wednesday by the mayor of Sant'Anastasia, Carmine Esposito, to his fellow citizen Filippo Di Pascale.
The man was in Piazza Cattaneo to celebrate his 12-year-old daughter's birthday in one of the bars in the square, along with about ten other children. Di Pascale, after hearing the shots, left the party and helped the little girl and her parents, who were also slightly injured, accompanying everyone to the Santobono hospital in Napoli, probably managing to avoid more serious consequences for the 10-year-old girl.
The little girl, released yesterday, had been hit in the face by one of the bullets, at least ten, fired in the square with a pistol and a machine gun by two boys aged 17 and 19, seriously suspected of attempted murder, and currently under arrest. Mayor Esposito will deliver a plaque of recognition to Di Pascale from the community of Sant'Anastasia.
