“When faced with a workers' dispute, there is no political colour that holds up”.
This was stated by PD MP Marco Sarracino, speaking at the demonstration organized by FIM and FIOM in front of the Stellantis plant in Pomigliano d'Arco, to protest against the sale of a branch of some FCA services, and the transfer of 28 workers to a third-party company.
“We are heading towards an industrial desertification of our territory - he added - and for this reason we will always be at the workers' side"Also present at the demonstration were the mayor of Pomigliano d'Arco, Lello Russo, some members of the council and the minority councilors Marco Iasevoli and Vito Fiacco, candidates for mayor in the last administrative elections.
“Our municipal administration has invited Stellantis to a meeting twice – said the mayor – and the company declined. They offended the city and Pomigliano will now have to deal with Stellantis. They must understand that they are 'guests' of our territory, not the masters.
They must respect the rules that govern our community and those who welcomed them and established a cordial, respectful and polite relationship with them."
The concern of the unions and workers, explained the provincial leaders of Fim and Fiom, Aniello Guarino and Mario Di Costanzo, is that the American company where the workers will be transferred "will then decide to fire them once the contract has ended".
“Inside this establishment – they explained – in addition to Fca services there are other companies, and we do not want this to be just the beginning of a long series of transfers that will take away jobs from our territories. For this reason we ask the institutions to fight to prevent this from happening, as happened with whirlpool”.
