There were thirty victims on Italian roads in the third weekend of July (14-16) compared to 37 the previous weekend. This was reported by the Asaps Observatory, the Association of Supporters of the Highway Police.
In the 72 hours, 11 motorists, 12 motorcyclists, a cyclist and 6 pedestrians died. A multiple-fatal accident caused two victims, 17 fatal accidents on main extra-urban roads. Vehicles leaving the area without third-party involvement were the cause of eight fatal accidents.
Among the victims, 9 were under 35 years old: the oldest was an 84-year-old man, the youngest was a 14-year-old boy. There were 6 deaths in Lombardy, 4 in Sicily, 3 in Veneto, Lazio and Calabria, 2 in Campania and Marche and one each in Liguria, Trentino Alto Adige, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Basilicata, Puglia and Sardinia.
