The technique used is always the tried and tested one: a phone call to the victim, an elderly person, during which a fake lawyer asks to collect money and/or valuables, necessary to help the son who risks being arrested for hitting a pedestrian.
This is what happened in Barletta. This time the four alleged perpetrators of the scam, all residents of the province of Naples, were arrested by the agents of the Flying Squad of the Barletta Andria Trani Police Headquarters, for the crime of aggravated fraud against an elderly woman.
While the accomplice was making the phone call, the four, later arrested, present in the area, went to the woman's house: one of them went up to the house to collect the valuables that the woman had collected in the belief that she had to help her son, while the other three remained in the street, acting as lookout for the accomplice and being ready for the subsequent escape by car.
At this point, the Flying Squad officers noticed the presence of the quartet's suspicious car parked in the street. After monitoring its movements, they then observed one of the men quickly exit the victim's front door.
The boy, about 20 years old, was stopped and subjected to a check, following which he was found in possession of the stolen goods. At the same time, the other three accomplices were also identified and checked. Thanks to the intervention of the Flying Squad agents, the stolen goods were recovered, immediately returned to the victim, while the four alleged perpetrators were arrested for aggravated fraud.
The Public Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Trani then requested the validation of the arrest of the four, obtaining that all of them were subsequently subjected to the precautionary measure of prison custody.
