Also for the two-year period 2024 – 2025, three Pink Bollini have been assigned to the Federico II University Hospital of Naples by the Onda Foundation. This is the highest recognition given to hospitals that offer services dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the main pathologies that concern the female universe, but also those that transversally concern men and women from a gender perspective.
In the national territory, 126 facilities have received three pink stamps from the Foundation, 188 have obtained two and 53 one stamp. In Campania, 8 facilities have been awarded three pink stamps. Federico II is one of the 3 Neapolitan facilities that have obtained the highest recognition. The award ceremony took place today at the Ministry of Health.
"Never before has it been so important to be at the side of all women, especially by offering them dedicated care paths. The Federico II University Hospital of Naples has a long tradition in this regard, an orientation that we wanted to strengthen more and more and that would not be possible without the tireless dedication of all our professionals. And thanks are also due to the Onda Foundation and its president, Dr. Francesca Merzagora", commented the general manager Giuseppe Longo.
The evaluation of the hospital facilities and the assignment of the Pink Bollini took place through an application questionnaire consisting of approximately 500 questions, each with a pre-established value, divided into 15 specialist areas plus a section dedicated to general services for the reception of women and one for the management of cases of violence against women and healthcare workers. A special Advisory Board, chaired by Walter Ricciardi, Professor of Public Hygiene, Università del Sacro Cuore in Rome, validated the Bollini obtained by the hospitals (zero, one, two or three) following the calculation of the total score obtained in the application, also taking into account the qualitative elements of particular relevance not evaluated through the questionnaire (special services and paths, particular initiatives and projects).
Three evaluation criteria were taken into consideration: the presence of clinical specialties that treat typically female health problems that are transversal to both genders and require differentiated pathways, typology and appropriateness of diagnostic-therapeutic pathways and clinical-assistance services in a gender-oriented multidisciplinary perspective; the offer of services related to the reception of users during women's hospitalization in support of diagnostic-therapeutic pathways and, finally, the level of preparation of the hospital for the management of victims of physical and verbal violence.
During the award ceremony, a special recognition was also given to 34 Bollino Rosa Referenti who have distinguished themselves over the years for their commitment and enthusiasm in supporting the initiatives of Fondazione Onda. Among them, the Head of Communications of the Federico II University Hospital of Naples, Alessandra Dionisio.
