A woman of non-EU origin, resident in Licata, in the province of Agrigento, was the victim of domestic violence for years by her husband. The beatings, suffered even in front of her children, were so severe that they caused her to lose a child.
The woman, who had never reported her husband, ended up in the emergency room of the San Giacomo d'Altopasso hospital due to the injuries she sustained. The doctors, after examining her, called the police.
The agents, starting the investigation, reconstructed the dramatic story. The man, for trivial reasons, allegedly attacked his wife with kicks and punches on several occasions, causing her serious injuries.
Following the woman's complaint, the "red code" process was initiated. The woman, along with her children, was removed from the family home and placed in a protected facility.
The man is under investigation for mistreatment in the family and the court, in the last few hours, has decreed the loss of parental authority over the children.
Domestic violence is a serious social problem that affects women of all ages, cultures and social conditions. It is important that victims of violence do not feel alone and that they always report the violence they have suffered.
