Critical situation for Italian influencers
The world of Italian influencers is not having a good time right now. Chiara Ferragni, the “queen” of influencers, is involved in fraud investigations and is going through a separation from her husband, rapper Fedez. Other Italian influencers are not having a better time.
Inspections on influencers' finances by the Guardia di Finanza
In this complicated situation, some Italian influencers are involved and are at the center of the investigations conducted by the Guardia di Finanza of Bologna. The investigations concern four influencers from Bologna and five digital creators, who have a total following, on various platforms, of 50 million followers. These influencers and digital creators are active on various sites and platforms, including OnlyFans and Escort Advisor.
The investigations allowed to recover over 11 million euros through taxation in two different sectors. The first concerns the four influencers, two of whom were completely unknown to the tax authorities.
The Guardia di Finanza had to reconstruct the proceeds obtained through various activities: publications on social media, professional collaborations with companies (influencer marketing), and, above all, the publication of content on popular adult entertainment sites.
The second sector involved concerns five digital creators, all unknown to the Tax Office, very active in publishing paid services on the web.
Three of these have been reported to the Revenue Agency for the application of an additional income tax introduced in 2006 for those who produce, distribute, sell and represent adult material in multimedia format.
Influencers have generally been cooperative
In most cases, the influencers were cooperative, promptly adhering to the observations made and paying the Treasury as due. Only in some cases, they preferred to conduct further investigations before continuing the procedure with the financial offices.
Profile of the main influencers involved
Among the most well-known names involved in the Guardia di Finanza investigations are Gianluca Vacchi and Luis Sal. Vacchi is a well-known entrepreneur who became famous on social media for his “dancer videos” and Sal is a YouTuber from Bologna with millions of followers. Both were called by the Finance Police to pay sums of around 7 and 2 million euros.
Luis Sal defended himself on his Instagram account denying the accusations of tax evasion. Luis said he has always declared and paid all his taxes and that he has professionals who take care of his accounting.
Among those involved are also two young influencers, Giulia Ottorini and Eleonora Bertoli, mainly active on Onlyfans. Both publish digital content for adults and have about five million followers on TikTok and Instagram. Ottorino had drawn attention to himself with a video in which he said he had spent 30 thousand euros in just four days, the video was removed shortly thereafter.
