Three surreal characters magically enter the frames of a film that is projected on the background: the three old men, reached by a mysterious message, continue their journey together, following a star and going in search of a cave with a newborn child. The three waste time, follow the wrong stars, and entertain themselves with childish games. The little Odyssey will lead to a funny failure that culminates with the discovery of the god already dead.
Admission is free until all seats are taken. Info and reservations: 345 467 9142 – assoli@casadelcontemporaneo.it
On stage, three different types of characters: A is the one who is doubtful about everything (“Are you sure this is the right path?”), tendentially defeatist and sometimes nihilistic; B is an optimist and convinced that his fate is already sealed (“There is no doubt. It is written in the books!”) and C is the skeptic but pragmatic and a little anxious (“Maybe… But we have been walking for a long time and there is no trace of the little boy”).
The journey of the three characters is marred by events that threaten to make them late for the appointment, periodically renewing the worry of finding the already grown child. They get lost in a countryside and meet the Baron in the Trees (a literary star), who they end up killing. On a beach, following a starfish, they realize they have forgotten the gifts for the child and remedy the situation with dangerous junk recovered on the spot. Climbing up a staircase, they arrive at a theater star, from which they are rudely thrown out. And, on a full moon night, they decide to steal the moon among the incomprehensible stars and turn it into a ball to play with. They cross cities and mountains, stairs/beaches and traffic islands, without being seen by the world, demonstrating that they have a conflictual relationship with time, wasting time on small useless things or childish curiosities or old man's tantrums. In short, it is not time that is lacking for them, but they who are lacking for time.
Their journey is accompanied by a narrative voice, a mix between a scolding Super and an old man telling a fairy tale. When the three finally arrive in a destroyed and abandoned village, among the rubble they find signs of a celebration that has already ended. An empty manger, a donkey that was left behind in the escape, abandoned Christmas decorations. In the distance they see a cross on a mountain. They arrived late because God is already dead.
They decide to lie down and rest, snuggled together. They fall asleep or die. After all, who can say whether living is not dying and dying is not living. It is Time that leaves no time.
