The sixth date of the NOCERA JAZZ FESTIVAL will be held on Tuesday 16 July at the evocative Castello del Parco Fienga, starting at 21 pm. Tickets, costing 20 euros plus presale fees, are available through the usual sales channels. The evening will be entirely dedicated to contemporary jazz, with a performance by the Christian Sands Trio, composed of Christian Sands on piano, Yasushi Nakamura on bass and Ryan Sands on drums.
Christian Sands: A Singular Career
With his third release on the Mack Avenue label, entitled “Be Water” and released in the summer of 2020, Christian Sands confirms himself as a prominent bandleader in the contemporary jazz scene. In this new album, Sands draws inspiration from the tranquil power and fluidity of water, exploring the infinite possibilities these characteristics offer in the musical context of jazz.
A Life Dedicated to Music
Despite being in his early thirties, Sands has already had a remarkable career. He rose to fame as a member of the Christian McBride Orchestra and Trio. He has also collaborated with such high-caliber artists as Gregory Porter, Geri Allen, Esperanza Spaulding, and many others. His career has taken him to perform at the International Jazz Day in Cuba and at many prestigious international jazz festivals, including Montenegro, Monterey, Newport, and Montreux.
An Artist between Roots and Innovation
Sands’s deep musical culture and knowledge of jazz history allow him to maintain a strong connection with the roots of the genre. However, Sands is also an artist looking to the future, convinced that jazz should not remain anchored to the models of the past. His music therefore represents a balance between tradition and innovation, making him one of the most interesting protagonists of the contemporary jazz scene.
An unmissable opportunity, therefore, for jazz lovers, who will be able to enjoy the melodies of Christian Sands and his trio in a suggestive location such as the Castello del Parco Fienga.
