The next international event of the Nocera Jazz Festival 2024 is Sunday, July 7, an evening dedicated to Afro-Cuban sounds with a double concert. On stage will perform Omar Sosa with Ernesttico and the promising Ana Carla Maza.
The Afro Cuban Night
The Nocera Jazz Festival continues with its third event, dedicated to world music, combining jazz and Caribbean rhythms in a tribute to Cuba. Three extraordinary Cuban artists will perform for an unforgettable night. The eclectic pianist Omar Sosa will be joined by the virtuoso percussionist Ernesttico, while the opening of the evening will be entrusted to the promising Ana Carla Maza. The concerts will begin at 21:30 pm and tickets are available at the price of 25 euros, purchasable at the box office and online.
The Artistic Direction
Under the artistic direction of Mario Berna, in collaboration with the Municipal Administration of Nocera Inferiore and Sofy Music, the Nocera Jazz Festival 2024 offers eight days of engaging events. The festival includes eleven concerts with artists from the United States, Brazil, Cape Verde/Portugal, Cuba, and Italy, celebrating contemporary jazz and multi-ethnic sounds.
Omar Sosa: The Soul of Afro-Cuban Jazz
The evening’s star is pianist Omar Sosa, known for his multilingual musical approach that transcends borders. Originally from Cuba, Sosa celebrates the diversity of music from the Americas and beyond, while maintaining a deep connection to his Afro-Cuban roots. His unique, global jazz style is a celebration of musical diversity.
Ernesttico: The Percussion Virtuoso
Born in Havana, Ernesto Rodriguez, better known as Ernesttico, stands out for his unique style that combines percussion, drums, synthesizers and voice. After graduating at nineteen, Ernesttico has collaborated with numerous renowned artists and orchestras. Having moved to Italy in 1995, he has worked with renowned artists such as Jovanotti, Raf, and Eros Ramazzotti.
Evening Opening with Ana Carla Maza
The evening will open with Ana Carla Maza, who will present her latest album “Caribe”. This talented Cuban cellist, composer and singer will perform a solo concert that will showcase her refined repertoire. “Caribe” blends cumbia, son, bossa, samba, tango, rumba, reggae and salsa, reflecting the colors and sound memories of her childhood in Havana. Maza, only 28 years old, is also a producer and entrepreneur, celebrating with her works the most spontaneous and positive aspects of life, addressing a varied audience of different ages.
