In Giugliano the Municipality declares war on prostitution

The Municipality of Giugliano has decided to intensify the fight against prostitution, directly targeting clients.

With a new ordinance signed by Deputy Mayor Pietro Di Girolamo, anyone caught negotiating paid sexual services, even verbally, risks a fine of 500 euros.

This decision comes following the appeal launched by Don Massimo Condidorio, parish priest of the church of San Matteo in Borgo Riccio.

The priest reported that the constant presence of prostitutes in the vicinity of the church is causing discomfort and concern among the faithful, especially among the parents of children attending catechism.

Many of them have in fact asked to be able to take their children to catechism classes in other, more distant parishes, to avoid exposing them to inappropriate scenes.

The ordinance, in addition to providing sanctions for clients, underlines how street prostitution is often linked to more serious crimes, such as exploitation, even of minors.

Law enforcement is therefore invited to intensify checks throughout the municipal area, fining anyone caught negotiating sexual services or engaging in suspicious behavior.
