"A song can change your life, and 'Rossetto e Caffè' did just that. I've written many songs that have had an impact on me, but this one came at a special time, with music going in a completely different direction. The joy is double, for me and my staff. We're a team, and success belongs to everyone."

This is how Sal Da Vinci comments on the success of his single "Rossetto e Caffè," a gold record and still at the top of the charts months after its release. The song triumphed despite little radio airplay. "I didn't complain," Da Vinci clarifies.

"It was a question I was asked: why isn't such a strong song played on the radio? Maybe it doesn't fit with their editorial line, but I'm not making a big deal out of it. It's the audience that decides a song's success."

And the audience has declared 'Rossetto e Caffè' a triumph, with millions of streams and views, and two sold-out dates at the Arena Flegrea in Naples, the first last night and the next tomorrow. "Honestly, I didn't expect such a large turnout in such a short time, with two dates immediately sold out," confesses Da Vinci, thrilled to perform in his hometown.

"Catch-or-miss songs last a month, forty days at most. 'Rossetto e Caffè' was released on June 14th and is still doing well, we're over three months into it. It's special." The song's success, which has amassed 13 million streams on Spotify and 23 million views on YouTube, has transcended generations, even reaching Gen Z. "It's an immense joy," says Da Vinci, who adds: "My social media manager says it's achieving platinum numbers.

It's a dream come true, I've already experienced it in the days of physical records. Today the real numbers are achieved on digital platforms. Seeing children sing my song is like being reborn."

Da Vinci credits his longtime audience and new fans: "I should give a gold record to each of them. They're the ones who created all this. And Gen Z has surprised me; their curiosity makes me happy. They're discovering my songs. I see on Spotify Artists that songs that used to have few streams now have many more. There's curiosity. Songs are magic that you hope will never end."

'Lipstick and Coffee' is just the beginning of a larger project, which includes a new show at the Teatro Agostino in Naples starting December 13th, on stage for a month.

And there's also a new collaboration on the horizon: "I'm working on a new song and I've involved an artist I really admire, her name is Ste." Born in 1996, Ste is one of the newcomers on the Neapolitan music scene: "She's an artist with a story that has deeply touched me, and I can relate to it in some ways.

It inspired me to write this piece. Years ago I wrote 'Vera' with Franco Del Prete, a song about those who pursue their dreams despite the difficulties. Ste's story reminded me of this theme. He's incredibly talented, and I really like the idea of collaborating with young people."

Ste, therefore, will be featured on Da Vinci's next album, and he doesn't rule out other collaborations, as long as they come "spontaneously, with love, and with a logic. No 'plasticized' music made just for numbers."

And no dissing on the horizon: "What I have to say, I say in my songs. Private things stay private." Finally, my "lipstick and coffee" to energize me? "My family, my children, my grandchildren. This new energy makes me happy, and from happiness beautiful things come. I firmly believe in that."
