Torre Annunziata. The Gionta clan strikes again in the world of football. The investigations of the Carabinieri have revealed a new method of extortion, defined as “environmental”: without explicit threats, but with the simple presence and criminal fame, the clan imposes its will.
This is what happened at Savoia Calcio. In 2022, Ciro Scognamiglio, 44 years old, took the sports director at the time Carmine Palumbo to the home of Felice Savino, known as Peracotta, 65 years old, brother-in-law of the boss Valentino Gionta, under house arrest. With veiled language, Savino offered his “protection”.
Another of those arrested, Ciro Scognamiglio, had accompanied him. Savino received the victim on the terrace of the house and after having made it clear to him that he was under arrest, he offered him “his protection and his support… for anything”.
At the end of the meeting, Scognamiglio, while accompanying him to the exit, says to the DS: "We need to keep this one happy". The fact is that a few months later, in October 2022, the manager presents his irrevocable resignation from the position.
Salvatore Ferraro also arrested again together with his wife and daughter
The precautionary measures notified by the military of the Arma concern Felice Savino, 65 years old; Ciro Scognamiglio, 44 years old; Salvatore Ferraro, 60 years old, known as 'o capitano; Filomena Bove, 58 years old, and Giuseppe Ferraro, 33 years old. The first two are accused of participating in the aggravated and continued extortion at the Savoia
The remaining three were instead charged with usury, also in a continuous and aggravated form, dating back to July 2021 and committed between Torre Annunziata and the provinces of Venice and Rovigo, in addition to the contextual threats.
The fish entrepreneur in financial difficulty, faced with a loan of just over 20 thousand euros, had to return, due to repeated renegotiations, almost 45 thousand euros, of which over 24 thousand euros in interest alone, equal to an interest rate of 162%. And to force him to pay, the victim was allegedly heavily threatened.
