The National Federation of the Orders of Health Professions TSRM and PSTRP, in collaboration with the National Register Commission of Prevention Technicians, launches an awareness campaign on the prevention of accidents and deaths at work.
At the heart of the initiative is a commercial featuring rapper Clementino, which will be broadcast on RAI networks from October 28 to November 2, 2024, with the aim of spreading a culture of safety and prevention in the workplace.
Deaths and accidents at work continue to be a scourge for our country, but prevention can really make a difference. This is the warning at the heart of the commercial “Prevention is the solution”, starring rapper and TV host Clementino and the Technicians of prevention in environments and workplaces (TPALL).
From October 28 to November 2, 2024, the commercial will be broadcast on Rai channels to raise public awareness of the importance of safety measures in the workplace.
The spot, filmed at the Royal Palace of Caserta and directed by Luciano Fontana, is promoted by the National Register Commission of TPALL of the National Federation of Orders of Technical, Rehabilitation and Prevention Health Professions (FNO TSRM and PSTRP). The goal is clear: to make people understand that prevention means saving lives.
Workplace accidents and occupational diseases are a scourge that continues to afflict the Italian socio-economic context, as unfortunately supported by the merciless data from INAIL, which in the 2023 annual report reports 590.215 accident reports, of which 1.147 with fatal outcomes, an average of 3 per day.
The analysis of the most affected sectors highlights that a quarter of the accidents at work in 2023 are concentrated in the manufacturing sector, followed by health and social care (14%), construction (13%), transport and warehousing (12%) and trade (11%).
Occupational diseases are also on the rise: with 76.210 reports registered in 2023, +19,8% compared to 60.633 thousand the previous year. Horrifying figures.
A significant reduction in these numbers inevitably passes through primary prevention: workplace surveillance, continuous training of workers and the improvement of corporate culture are fundamental pillars, made effective by the competence of the professionals who take care of their application.
The TPALL is a healthcare professional of extraordinary importance in this battle. Unique in its field, it stands out for its highly specialized training, obtained through a dedicated degree course, which confers the qualifying title.
His skills range from the public sector, where he works as a Judicial Police Officer at the Prevention Departments of Local Health Authorities for inspections and investigations in safety matters, to the private sector, where he provides consultancy and support to companies to ensure safe and healthy working environments.
The National Register Commission of TPALL, aware of the rapid changes in the world of work, proposes a new paradigm shift, which goes beyond the simple repression of infringements, focusing on concrete initiatives.
Among these, the introduction of educational programs on safety in schools and the possibility for companies to deduct 120% of investments destined to the protection of health and safety at work. Among the proposals, also, a reform of access to qualifications for key figures of safety in companies and temporary and mobile construction sites (RSPP, ASPP, CSP, CSE, etc.).
Other measures include investment in targeted prevention plans, which provide for the active involvement of companies in adopting best practices without fear of sanctions, and the strengthening of the staff of the prevention departments of local health authorities, in line with the number of companies present in the area.
At the same time, the National Register Commission of TPALL proposes the establishment of spaces for discussion and support for companies, in addition to improving the quality and effectiveness of mandatory training for workers, with the aim of promoting greater awareness of the "value of protecting oneself".
Among the proposals there is also the creation of a shared database between various bodies (Health Authorities, INAIL, INL, Ministry of Health, INPS, ISTAT, SNPA, GEA) to optimize the coordination of controls, and the establishment of a permanent Observatory that brings together institutions and stakeholders to support political decisions on workplace safety. These issues are currently being discussed at the technical table established by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies.
The “Prevention is the Solution” campaign therefore represents a further step forward in this direction, bringing the topic of workplace safety directly into the homes of Italians.
To implement such a process of improving the culture of prevention, it is essential to also change the approach on how to communicate with the recipients of the message: workers, employers, institutions and workers of tomorrow. The spot, with the extraordinary participation of Clementino, wants to represent exactly this: a new way of sharing the culture of prevention.
