Manolas Sale – The Rome Prosecutor's Office has closed the investigation into Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, regarding the accusation of false accounting linked to the sale of Greek defender Kostas Manolas, transferred from Roma to Napoli in the summer of 2019.
The accusation is part of a broader investigation into alleged fictitious capital gains, which also involves the purchase of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Lille in 2020, a transaction for which the investigation had already been formally closed last January.
De Laurentiis' lawyers, Lorenzo Contrada and Fabio Fulgeri, have declared that the Napoli president is available to be heard by investigators to shed full light on the affair. “Our client – the lawyers say – is ready to clarify every aspect of these financial transactions.”
The investigation into the alleged fictitious capital gains involves several Serie A clubs and calls into question the use of accounting practices that, according to investigators, would have altered the clubs' balance sheets. The file on De Laurentiis represents one of the central episodes of this investigation, with particular attention paid to the methods and economic evaluations of Napoli's market operations.
