The former minister's lawyers have submitted a formal request to identify those responsible for the broadcast of recordings that were "illegally obtained and even more illicitly delivered" to the Rai 3 broadcast.
Reports to the Prosecutor's Office
Two separate reports have been filed with the Public Prosecutor's Office of Torre Annunziata by the lawyers of journalist Federica Corsini and former minister Gennaro Sangiuliano. The subject of the complaint are the audios broadcast by Report, which according to the lawyers could constitute a hypothesis of a crime based on article 615 bis of the penal code relating to "Illicit interference in private life".
Allegations of wrongdoing
Sangiuliano's lawyers argue that the delivery of the recordings constitutes an offence. Even before the broadcast of the programme on Rai 3, the lawyers had warned Rai of the possibility of a crime committed by those who had released the recordings.
Support from the National Council of Journalists
Meanwhile, the National Council of the Order of Journalists expressed solidarity with Federica Corsini, while remaining silent on the need to respect the ethical limits in the journalistic profession. “Respect for people and careful language are the cornerstones of journalism,” reads a note, highlighting the importance of maintaining high standards in information and the task of the Disciplinary Council in evaluating any violations.
With this story, the sector is called to reflect on the importance of respectful and qualitatively valid practices in the context of information.
