Santa Maria Capua Vetere – A Penitentiary Police officer on duty at the District Prison was arrested red-handed while he was about to introduce drugs and cell phones intended for inmates into the prison.
The operation, conducted by the Central Investigative Unit of the Penitentiary Police in collaboration with the personnel of the Penitentiary Police Department of the prison facility, led to the seizure of over 3 kilos of hashish. The drugs were hidden both on the officer and inside his car.
The investigations, still ongoing, have also revealed an alleged corruption ring.'agent, according to what has emerged, would have made illicit agreements with prisoners and their families, promising to introduce drugs and cell phones into prison in exchange for money.
The investigating judge of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere validated the arrest and ordered the agent to be held in prison. The decision was confirmed by the Review Court.
