Naples. Merchants, restaurateurs and citizens of the Spanish Quarters in revolt against the prequel of Gomorrah. The revolt against the upcoming filming of the series “Gomorrah – The Origins”, which began a few weeks ago first in San Giovanni a Teduccio and then in Torre Annunziata.
Leading the revolt was Ciro Bossis, manager of the highly followed Facebook page “Figli del sud Popolo sovrano” who had two banners hung at the entrance to the Spanish Quarters with the words: “Action, camera, always Naples in sight” and then “Speculative filming, unforgivable offenses”.
Bossis posted a video saying: “We don’t want you here, we spent many years to bring a bit of culture to this area. Jatevenne. Castings are allowed for kids from 15 to 18 years old. Kids need to go to school, not do castings for Gomorrah. Dear Saviano, go earn your money somewhere else. We invite all the mothers of Naples to take to the streets against this unhealthy culture of crime. Crime doesn’t belong to us.”
The video was commented by hundreds of citizens who applauded the initiative even if there are only a few contrasting voices that point out how it could be an opportunity for young people to find space in the world of cinema.
Il new chapter of the epic saga is a production of Sky Studios and Cattleya, with the writing entrusted to Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli, already authors of the screenplay of "Gomorra - The Series", together with Marco D'Amore, who also acts as artistic supervisor, and Saviano himself.
The setting takes us back in time to the 70s to tell the story of the birth and rise of the boss Don Pietro Savastano. The settings, featuring telephone booths, kiosks, signs and vintage cars, aim to immerse the viewer in an era and a city that have now disappeared.
