Monitoring activities on the Phlegraean Fields continue without stopping: the Department of Civil Protection, in collaboration with the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), continues the analysis work on the concentration of CO2 detected in some areas of the Phlegraean area.
The action is carried out in close coordination with the Prefecture of Naples and the regional Civil Protection, to ensure immediate responses to the local community. Attention now also extends to underground infrastructure. The president of the Infrastructure, Mobility and Civil protection of the Naples City Council, Nino Simeone, asked the councilor Edoardo Cosenza, the director of the Metropolitan Lines service, Serena Riccio, and the general director of ANM, Francesco Favo, to evaluate the installation of gas sensors in the stations and tunnels of the subway.
The goal is to ensure constant monitoring of carbon dioxide concentrations and activate alarms in the event of dangerous levels. The initiative follows the ordinance of Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, who last Friday ordered preventive measures to deal with anomalous accumulations of CO2 in the Phlegraean area. The safety of the population remains the top priority, with the institutions engaged in joint work to prevent any critical issues.

It is interesting to read how the monitoring activities on Campi Flegrei continue. I hope that the measures taken by the Civil Protection can really help prevent dangerous situations for the local community and that they are effective.
