San Tammaro – The Carabinieri of the Marcianise Forestry Unit have seized two buffalo farms located in the municipality of San Tammaro, in an area classified as a Vulnerable Zone for Nitrates of agricultural origin. The measure was triggered following the discovery of numerous environmental violations.
During the checks, the military found that 306 buffalo heads belonging to two different companies were being held in a single stable. Furthermore, the two lagoons intended for the temporary storage of livestock effluents were saturated and lacked the necessary guard ditch, resulting in the direct spillage of sewage into the surrounding fields.
The ASL Veterinary staff, who intervened on site, found serious structural and hygienic-sanitary deficiencies: the animals kept outside did not have adequate protection against the elements, the feeders did not have suitable covers to guarantee the healthiness of the food and the structures also showed critical issues in terms of biosecurity.
In light of these violations, the Carabinieri Forestali proceeded to seize the farms and reported the owners at large on charges of illegal dumping of special liquid and shovelable waste, irregular management of livestock effluents and animal abuse.

I read the article and it seems that the situation of buffalo farms in San Tammaro is really worrying. It is important that more frequent checks are made to avoid these environmental violations that also damage the surrounding environment. Animals deserve to be treated well.
