Casavatore – Municipal elections: parties still at a standstill. A start to April in complete uncertainty is opening on the elections front with lists and parties completely out of control.
With old politicians and some former candidates filed away, wives, relatives and friends are emerging for the race for the office of city councilor. Currently competing for the office of mayor are former mayor Vito Marino, well-liked in the city, and criminal lawyer Fabrizio Celaj, son of Michele, one of the deans of Casavatore's political history.
But the campaign for the 2025 local elections is proceeding in a climate of silence and closed strategies, far from the public spotlight. And while the official parties seem absent or relegated to marginal roles, it is the civic lists that dominate the scene, based at the moment more on personal popularity and votes of supporters than on concrete programs for the future of the city, evaluating names and numbers rather than programs and ideas.
Rumors are that there will be seven or more lists, probably fewer, competing, but at the moment there are no concrete signs of a leadership of the traditional political formations. The names of the actors who will compose them have not yet appeared, but it could be a component of no small importance for the construction of a broad coalition.
In the meantime, after weeks of negotiations and intense meetings between the possible candidate for Mayor Vito Marino and the representatives of some civic lists, after many difficulties, they managed to sit around a table, but without the inevitable dramatic turn of events.
The list represented by former councilor Nadia Silva and former Councilor and assessor Antonio Riccardi, despite having declared for weeks that they share a common political path with the list of former Prime Minister Claudio Caturano "Idea Democratica", Silva would have distanced itself from the political document prepared at the table of the future and now halved coalition following a half-hearted meeting, also in the presence of other lists led by former councilor Napolitano, Elena Alessio and Massimo Minichini, where they would have represented to the probable candidate for Mayor Marino all the difficulties and to consider the current coalition definitively closed, surprisingly opening up to all politically interested forces and to create the new political project in strong discontinuity with the past.
In short, there is a lot of confusion around even though the election campaign has already begun. There are no jolts from the center-right parties.

Do these positions emerge from a hidden presence in the meeting defined as "not very convinced" and which only aims to destabilize the electoral campaign?
In the opinion of the writer, who was present, there does not appear to be a lack of convictions at all, indeed, the first meeting, which can be defined as effective and certainly encouraging, for the agreements expressed, is a harbinger of a strong and positive agreement for the achievement of goals common to the candidates who are supported by a large part of the citizens.
