Naples – A joint operation by law enforcement has restored order in the Porta Nolana area, where so-called “illegal souks” have long been proliferating.
The intervention, coordinated by the Naples Police Headquarters, involved police officers from the Vicaria-Mercato and Arenella police stations, financial police from the Guardia di Finanza Finanza, Italian Army soldiers, Metropolitan Police officers and ASIA operators.
Yesterday morning, patrols patrolled Corso Garibaldi and the adjacent streets – Nolana, Marvasi, Caracciolo di Bella, Cesare Rosaroll and Piazza Mancini – areas sadly known for the phenomenon of illegal trade. Here, improvised stalls had occupied sidewalks and streets for months, selling goods of dubious origin.

During the checks, the authorities identified numerous irregular sellers and confiscated approximately 25 quintals of products, including clothing, objects and various goods. Thanks to the use of an ASIA compactor, the material was disposed of immediately, restoring legality in the area.
(h3)The strategy of the Police Headquarters
The operation is part of a broader plan to combat illegal markets, which undermine the regular economy and urban security. “We will not lower our guard,” they assure from the Police Headquarters, ready to repeat the controls to avoid the return of illegal activities.
Meanwhile, residents express relief: “Finally there is a different air,” comments a local shopkeeper. But the challenge remains open: to ensure that degradation does not take hold again.
