Sparanise – Maria Grazia Viola, 37 years old, originally from Teano, is the victim of the dramatic road accident that occurred this morning along the Strada Statale 7 via Appia, near Sparanise.
The woman was traveling in a Mazda when she collided head-on with a Fiat Tipo, in which a man and his son were traveling. The impact, very violent, threw both cars into the side ditches in opposite directions. The causes of the accident are still being ascertained by the police.
The Teano Fire Department intervened on site, extracting the occupants from the wreckage, and the 118 personnel, who arrived with several ambulances. There was nothing that could be done for Maria Grazia Viola: the 37-year-old died instantly. The father and son, however, were taken to the hospital, but their lives are not in danger.
The accident caused serious traffic disruption. The Appian Way remained closed until 10:50, with mandatory diversions along the SP 7 and, northbound, on Taverna di Pignataro Maggiore. The Army intervened on site to manage traffic, while Anas personnel took care of the removal of the damaged vehicles.
Investigations are underway to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the tragic collision.
