The Carabinieri of the Mondragone Station arrested a 27-year-old local man, already known to the police, on charges of production, trafficking and illegal possession of narcotics. The man was found in possession of enough cocaine to make over 500 doses, hashish and two precision electronic scales.
The arrest took place yesterday afternoon, in via Duca degli Abruzzi, where the Carabinieri noticed the 27-year-old withdrawing into a dark corner, waiting for some young people coming from the nearby Piazza Sant'Angelo. The man, who immediately showed signs of nervousness, was subjected to a personal search.
During the search, the 27-year-old spontaneously handed over a bag containing five packages of cocaine, a dose of hashish and two smartphones. The subsequent house search led to the discovery of another 110 grams of cocaine, doses of hashish and two precision scales.
The seized drugs, which would have brought in over 9.500 euros on the illicit market, and the packaging material were confiscated. The arrested man was taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
