Article Key Points
Mario Russo and Alfredo Tortorelli will perform on stage, while Collettivo Itaca will support the staging. The production is curated by Gommalacca Teatro and has received several awards, including the In-Box 2024/25 finalist and the 2024 SuiGeneris | Torino Fringe Festival Dramaturgy Award.
The show
The plot of “Affogo” revolves around Nicholas, who lives with his closed-minded uncles and dreams of becoming a swimming champion, although he is marked by a childhood trauma related to water. The abandoned swimming pool where he trains becomes the place of his internal conflicts, in particular with the memory of his brother. “Affogo” explores the psychological mechanisms behind violence, highlighting the boundary between oppressor and oppressed and stimulating a reflection on the influence of society and family on the formation of personality. The author Dino Lopardo explains that “The show was born from the desire to sublimate the discomfort and transform it in a certain sense into poetry.”, adding that the goal is to look at uncomfortable realities with a magnifying glass, but without judging them.
Foyer Preview
Before the show, at 18 pm, the FOYER PREVIEW will take place with the photographic exhibition “Toilette” by Chiara Pirollo. Born in Nocerina in 1995, Pirollo has exhibited the project “Toilette” in analog, arousing interest. The work focuses on female nudity in everyday gestures, presented as a pure and almost sacred moment. The project has also been exhibited at Villa Pignatelli in Naples.

The article talks about an interesting show, but I don't really understand why there are so many awards and recognitions. In fact, the plot seems complex and reflects on deep themes, but the photo of the exhibition seems strange for the theme.
