Naples – Ciro Fiola is the new president of the Chamber of Commerce of NapoliThe election, which took place unanimously this morning during the inauguration session of the new chamber council, marks Fiola's return to the helm of the institution after a long period as commissioner that lasted almost a year.
The meeting, held in the Salone delle Grida of the historic headquarters in Piazza Bovio, was opened by the regional councilor for Labor Antonio Marchiello, chaired by the senior councilor Michele Piccolo and saw the presence of the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi.
Fiola, who succeeds himself, did not hide his bitterness for the months of stalemate. “Where were we?”, he began, quoting Enzo Tortora, and then launched a harsh attack: “Our experience was interrupted a year ago due to procedures conditioned by those who put their own arrogance before logic and transparency of results.
Appeals and artifices have tried to subvert the democratic vote, fueling an unbreathable climate”. An ordeal that cost “three extraordinary commissioners, tens of thousands of euros wasted and a year of stamped papers”, he added, calling today “our April 25, the liberation from a fascist attempt to keep us away from what we have conquered on the field”.
The new president already has clear ideas about the future: "We must get back to work for businesses and the territory, recovering lost time and restarting a paralyzed administrative machine at a crucial moment for the economy".
Among the announced priorities, a 1,5 million euro call to support companies in the bradyseism area, the reduction of the agency's response times to requests from companies and the transfer of the Corso Meridionale offices to the Centro Direzionale, an ambitious project to relaunch the Chamber.
“We are starting again faithful to the line of the previous experience – concluded Fiola – putting the businesses and the productive fabric of Naples and the province at the center”. A return that announces itself as a challenge to give new impetus to an institution that has been at a standstill for too long.
