CASTELLAMMARE DI STABIA – Moments of tension in the port of Castellammare di Stabia yesterday afternoon, when the motor vessel Snav Virgo, one of the main vessels in service to Capri, lost an anchor during unmooring operations.
The accident occurred as the ship was preparing to depart: one of the anchors accidentally got stuck, making recovery impossible. The commander immediately reported the incident to the Port Authority of Castellammare di Stabia, which activated the emergency procedures. Despite the crew's attempts to unmoor the anchor, all efforts proved in vain.
For navigation safety reasons, the cabin crew then opted for the catenary detachment, leaving the anchor on the harbor floor.
