EBOLI – An institutional visit with an exceptional detour: during the tour scheduled in the province of Salerno on Tuesday 1st April, the delegation of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Illicit Activities Related to the Waste Cycle and Environmental and Agri-food Crimes, led by the president Jacopo Morrone, made a short but significant stop in Eboli for a special meeting: the one with Varenne, the legendary Italian trotter.
The now thirty-year-old champion, nicknamed “The Captain” and considered the greatest trotter of all time, has been a guest of a local facility for a few days. His career, studded with international triumphs, has marked the history of horse racing, with legendary victories such as the Prix d'Amérique, the Gran Premio della Lotteria and the Elitloppet, which have consecrated him as an absolute icon of the sport.
President Morrone thanked the owner of the plant on behalf of the delegation Dario De Angelis which allowed, in a completely exceptional way, this 'special' meeting with the horse considered unique in world horse racing.
