Investigators are focusing their investigations on a 23 year old of Filipino origins, with whom Ilaria had had a brief relationship. The young man was stopped and taken to Police Headquarters in Rome, suspected of being responsible for the femicide.
The investigations focused on Homs Street, in the African Quarter, where the girl was allegedly seen in the days before her disappearance. The suspect was allegedly framed by telephone records and cells hooked up from Ilaria's cell phone, which the young man would have used even after his death, posting stories on the victim's social media profile.
