Salerno – There are seven doctors at the “Ruggi” hospital in Salerno entered in the register of suspects for the death of Cristina Pagliarulo, the 41-year-old from Giffoni Valle Piana who died last March 6 after waiting hours on a stretcher in the Emergency Room. The investigation, conducted by the Salerno Prosecutor's Office, hypothesizes the crime of manslaughter due to medical negligence.
To shed light on the causes of death, the judiciary has ordered the exhumation of the body and the performance of an autopsy, scheduled for Friday. The case has gained national resonance after being reported by the television program “Fuori dal Coro” on Rete 4.
The victim's family, assisted by lawyer Mattia Alfano of the Florence Bar Association, asks to know the truth and to understand whether the 41-year-old's death could have been avoided.
The “Ruggi” hospital company, through a note released by the general manager Vincenzo D'Amato, declared that it had examined the matter with an internal commission, which had not found any critical issues in the assistance provided to the patient.
