The DIA Operations Center in Naples has a new manager: the 1st Director of the State Police, Dr. Antonio GALANTE, who succeeds his colleague Claudio DE SALVO, who has retired due to age limits.
This is a return since Dr. GALANTE had already served for almost four years in DIA (January 2012-October 2015), within the same Neapolitan Operations Centre and then as head of the Salerno Operations Section.
In his 25-year career with stops in Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Basilicata and Campania, the new Head of Centre has gained extensive experience in the fight against organised crime: before taking on his current role, Dr. GALANTE directed the Police Stations of Torre Annunziata and San Giovanni-Barra, among the areas with the highest crime rates in the Naples area, exercising the functions of direction and coordination of delicate judicial police investigations delegated by the local Public Prosecutors' Offices to combat the military and economic structure of the dangerous hegemonic clans in those difficult areal contexts.
Previously, at the head of the Latina Flying Squad and the Anti-Crime Division of the Potenza Police Headquarters, he followed important investigations into the patrimonial ramifications of the mafia, including transnational ones, which led to large judicial and preventive seizures. He is a knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

It is interesting to know that Dr. GALANTE is returning to the DIA, but I am not sure if his experience is sufficient to deal with the frequently changing organized crime. Let's hope he does a good job in this new role.
